Who would have thought that 2 games ago that there would actually be a scenario that would come down to overall point differential!! Through 5 games, Team Keeton was 4-1, Team Roepke was 2-3 and Team Alejo was 1-4. Now, Team Keeton is 4-3, Team Roepke is 3-4 and Team Alejo is 3-4!! Only one of those teams have successfully clinched a postseason birth. Team Keeton holds the head-to-head matchup tiebreak with Team Roepke so Team Roepke would be eliminated in the case of a 4-4 tie between all 3 teams.

The other two teams that have clinched are the top 2 teams in Team Slattery and Team Mayfield. Believe it or not, Team Mayfield still has a legitimate chance at the #1 spot. However, they will need a terrible loss from Team Slattery and a huge win over Team Keeton to take over the #1 spot going into the playoffs. In fact the OVERALL POINT DIFFERENTIAL SPREAD is 72 points so it really is not possible! The loss last week against Team Roepke basically killed their chance at the #1 spot! On top of that, Team Keeton also has a hypothetical chance at the #2 spot pending how their last game goes!

Here are the scenarios going into the Final Week of the 2017 GSBL season:

  • For Team Keeton to get the #2 spot, they would need at least a 21 point victory over Team Mayfield to get the #2 spot. (Highly unlikely considering Team Keeton has yet to crack the 40 point mark this season) For Team Keeton to get the #3 spot, they would need a WIN or if they LOSE, they need a Team Alejo LOSS or a win with specifications. The other scenario is overall point differential which right now, Team Keeton only has a 12 point advantage. For instance, if Team Alejo wins with a 1 point victory over Team Slattery and Team Keeton loses to Team Mayfield by 12 or more, Team Alejo would get the #3 spot and play Team Mayfield in the semifinals! (Obviously there is quite a few scenarios in order for that to happen. IF Team Keeton loses by 2 and Team Alejo wins by 11, Team Alejo gets the #3. IF Team Keeton loses by 3 and Team Alejo wins by 10, Team Alejo gets the #3 spot. Etc. Etc) NOW, if Team Alejo and Team Keeton TIE in OVERALL POINT DIFFERENTIAL, the final tie break scenario is HEAD-TO-HEAD POINT DIFFERENTIAL which in this case, Team Keeton holds the advantage by 3 points so Team Keeton would get the #3 spot.
  • For Team Roepke to make the playoffs, they need a WIN and a Team Alejo loss. Due to the 1-1 head to head record between these two teams, the only other way that Team Roepke makes the playoffs in a WIN/WIN situation between Team Alejo and themselves is IF they cover the 22 point differential spread and somehow get 1 more point than 22 to make 23! In the case of a point differential tie between Team Alejo and Team Roepke, Team Alejo holds the head-to-head point differential advantage by 5 points! So let’s say Team Roepke and Team Alejo both win, but Team Roepke equals the OVERALL POINT DIFFERENTIAL, Team Alejo is IN and Team Roepke is OUT!!

If none of that made sense, here is the condensed version:

  1. X Team Slattery (6-1)
  2. X Team Mayfield (5-2)
  3. X Team Keeton (4-3)
    1. Needs a WIN or a LOSS and a Team Alejo LOSS or a LOSS and a Team Alejo WIN, but with specifications to get the #3 spot. OR hope the 12 point spread is not covered by Team Alejo. IF the Overall point differential ends in a TIE, Team Keeton gets the #3 spot.
  4. Team Alejo (3-4)
    1. Needs a WIN and a Team Keeton LOSS to get the #3 spot. OR cover the 12 point differential between them and Keeton. If Overall point differential ends in tie, Team Keeton gets the #3 spot.
  5. Team Roepke (3-4)
    1. Needs a WIN and Team Alejo LOSS to make the playoffs. OR cover the 22 point differntial spread. If Overall point differential ends in a tie, Team Alejo is IN and Team Roepke is OUT.
  6. E Team Post (0-7)

This is Week 12’s matchups:

  • Team Mayfield vs Team Keeton 8:30PM
    • Team Keeton needs a WIN or a LOSS and a Team Alejo LOSS or a LOSS and a Team Alejo WIN with specifications to get the #3 spot. OR hope the 12 point spread is not covered by Team Alejo. IF the Overall point differential ends in a TIE, Team Keeton gets the #3 spot.
  • Team Alejo vs Team Slattery 9:30PM
    • Team Alejo needs a WIN and a Team Keeton LOSS to get the #3 spot. OR cover the 12 point differential between them and Keeton. If Overall point differential ends in tie, Team Keeton gets the #3 spot.
  • Team Post vs Team Roepke 10:30PM
    • Team Roepke needs a WIN and Team Alejo LOSS to make the playoffs. OR cover the 22 point differntial spread. If Overall point differential ends in a tie, Team Alejo is IN and Team Roepke is OUT.

Every game this week has a playoff scenario implication! IT is going to be exciting to watch!!!! DO NOT MISS WEEK 12 in the 2017 GSBL!!!!
