As we conclude Week 9 of the 2017 GSBL, we at GSBC Bleacher Report wanted to highlight one player from each team that impressed us with their offense, defense and effort! These guys deserve their team MVP’s for the week and should be commended for their overall performance!

Team Slattery: Jon Reimers

  • Reimers put up his 2nd 12 point performance of the season in a 49-22 Team Slattery victory over Team Roepke. We like the way he found open looks to create more opportunities for his team to be successful. He also had a couple steals which generated offense going the other way. His presence on the defensive end was also commendable, but his effort blew everyone away! He came into the game a little tired, but he left everything on the court!
  • Offense: A
  • Defense: A-
  • Effort: A
  • Overall: A

Team Mayfield: Team Captain Mac Mayfield

  • It was only a matter of time before we finally made Mayfield our Tuesday Spotlight for his team! This week, he was just too good! He put a cool 19 points and was all over the court offensively and defensively! IF his team is to make a deep run in the playoffs, Captain Mac will definitely need to be scoring those 19 points each game!
  • Offense: A+
  • Defense: A-
  • Effort: A-
  • Overall: A+

Team Keeton: Jordan Lendt

  • He is by FAR the best player for Team Keeton! Since Keeton’s injury in Week 1, Jordan has basically carried his team! We are surprised that his shoulders haven’t caved in yet! He played the better portion of a 33-23 victory and came up with big plays on offense and defense! He hit a three in the 2nd half which helped give his team some breathing room and he concluded his outstanding performance with a massive rejection down low! If Team Keeton is to make a surprise run through the playoffs, they will need Lendt to come up big and keep the ball above his head—he is unstoppable when he does that!
  • Offense: A+
  • Defense: A
  • Effort: A
  • Overall: A

Team Roepke: Dexter Tanqueco

  • Despite his team’s horrendous performance, Tanqueco put up a decent 9 points to give his team a chance at a victory over Team Slattery! With Tyler Mackay’s surprising slump, Dexter has been forced to take on a bigger role in the scoring factor for Team Roepke!
  • Offense: B+
  • Defense: B
  • Effort: A-
  • Overall: B+

Team Alejo: Matt Morgan

  • Morgan put up his new single game high in points with 15 on the game! He was getting good looks, finding holes and making it all look oh so easy! Honestly, we have been waiting for his “break out” game since Week 1! He entered the GSBL with ALOT of people saying he was the next Bro. Kyle Boruff on the basketball court, but we had yet to witness that until Sunday night! Let’s see how he can follow that performance up with a potential do or die game against Team Roepke in Week 10!
  • Offense: A+
  • Defense: A-
  • Effort: A
  • Overall: A

Team Post: Pete Scholl

  • Pistol Pete Scholl led his team with 7 points and tried to spark a late 2nd half rally to get his team their FIRST WIN of the season! Despite the loss, he showed signs of an intensity that we have only seen from Pete once or twice this season! If Team Post is to win their last 3 games and potentially make the playoffs, they will need Pistol Pete to play lights out in each game!
  • Offense: B+
  • Defense: B
  • Effort: A-
  • Overall: B+
